July 2023 5th: Can Japan Transform into a "Country Where Wages Rise"?
In 2023, the minimum wage in Japan will be raised by about 4%. About 30 years ago, Japan was known as a country with high labor costs. However, over the past 30 years, wage growth has been suppressed compared to other countries, and recently it has come to be seen as a country with relatively low wages. Will Japan be able to change from a "low-wage country" to a "high-wage country" in the future by raising the minimum wage?
